Building entrepreneurial communities on Whidbey & Camano Islands
Securing Island County’s economic future one entrepreneur at a time
We develop partnerships with local businesses, schools, and other organizations to provide our entrepreneurs with the tools necessary to build the next generation of business.
Our efforts primarily focus on K-12, college-age students, and other young adults just entering the workforce. The Foundation’s premier event is the Student Entrepreneur Challenge in conjunction with Global Entrepreneurship Week, and Whidbey Lemonade Day, a hands-on experience for kids 8-12.
The Foundation focuses on developing the entrepreneurs our community needs in the future such as roofers, water well pump installers, retailers, photographers, web designers, engineers, and those developing business ideas unknown today – without loading up on mountains of student loan debt. To do so takes community. That’s why the Foundation doesn’t just ask for money, but it works with successful business owners to mentor budding entrepreneurs by sharing their lessons learned in the school of hard knocks.
To help us achieve this mission, and to show support for all the young entrepreneurs in our community, consider donating below. If you’re interested in opportunities to mentor, contact us at (360) 678-6889 or email: IsCoEDF@outlook.com. Donations to the Economic Development Foundation are tax deductible.
The Island County Economic Development Foundation is an exempt organization as described in section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code, EIN: 47-1400140. Donations may be tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
